10 Expensive Things at The Kim-Trump North Korea Singapore Summit
In this video we are taking a look at everything you may see in the Trump-Kim North Korea USA Singapore summit including the hotels, security preparations, presidential convoys and travel, logistics and even what food will be on offer... this is 10 Expensive Things Expected at The Kim-Trump North Korea Summit
10. Capella Sentosa Hotel
The official meeting place for the Summit and its leaders, the Capella Hotel is located on the island of Sentosa that is connected to the mainland by only one raised road bridge.
The hotel complex is massive and has several other buildings located on-site and these include several Colonial Manors.
For regular guests, the hotel has several budget options and these include Premier rooms and Constellation rooms while a large number of unique rooms also exist on the site.
These include Sentosa Suites, Capella Suites, Luxury Villa's, the Capella 3 bedroom suite and a Contemporary Manor.
All rooms within the hotel come with luxury amenities including Complimentary in-room refreshments, wireless internet throughout the resort, Personal Assistant, daily newspapers of choice and 24-hour in-room dining service.
The resort has its own golf course, which we expect Donald Trump to try his hand at and access to the 24-hour fitness centre and 3 different swimming pools comes with your booking.
The Boeing 747-200B aircraft has been heavily customised to accommodate moving a large part of the white house staff in one go and includes a military command centre, medical department, private residence and conference facilities including a secure meeting room.
The most important part of the hotel for the summit you ask? It has a room with separate entrances that face each other... allowing both leaders to enter at the same time and meet in the middle!
9. Air Force One
The Boeing 747-200B aircraft has been heavily customised to accommodate moving a large part of the white house staff in one go and includes a military command centre, medical department, private residence and conference facilities including a secure meeting room.
One of the most secure planes on the planet, Air Force one is the official plane of the President of the United States and is responsible for his safe travel around the country and abroad.
The plane's interior is spread across three levels and covers around 4000 square feet of space and has a fully stocked galley that can accommodate everyone on board.
The plane has a military command centre on-board and is rumoured to be able to withstand a nuclear explosion and multiple rocket attacks.
The plane is thought to cost US taxpayers roughly $206,000 for every hour it is in flight and the plane even includes its own mini version of the oval office, however its not completely oval.
8. Fullerton Hotel Presidential Suite
The Fullerton Hotel, located in downtown Singapore, is labelled as the most Prestigious hotel in the country and the Presidential Suite is thought to command a price tag of around $8,000 a night.
This luxurious suite is this suite is furnished with a baby grand piano and has a private elevator for discreet access.
The living and dining rooms extend out to a spectacular glass-enclosed veranda graced by 20-feet Doric columns.
A private study adjoins the handsomely furnished bedroom and the suite has access to a round-the-clock personalised service, a complimentary daily Champagne breakfast and afternoon tea, evening canapés and cocktails in a dedicated lounge.
The glass-enclosed balcony will provide good protection from the media and there is also access to Individual temperature controls, Fully stocked Mini-bar and Sleek Nespresso coffee machine with complimentary coffee capsules.
7. Secret Service
The official protection service that will be directly in-charge of the security for POTUS, the secret service will be on the ground long before the president arrives for the summit.
Agents are positioned along all routes that the resident travels and are not only in the vehicles at the front and back of the convoy, they are also joined on the ground by Secret Service Counter Assault Team.
This unit is an elite team with "heavy artillery" on speed dial and is charged with fighting back if the president ever comes under attack and its the agency's equivalent of special ops.
The secret service is a part of the US Department for homeland security, so expect to see possibly one of the heaviest deployments of secret service during this event given its magnitude.
6. North Korea Protection Detail
If you think President Trump's Security detail is large then wait until you see the size of the North Korean Secret Service detail that will be assigned to protect Kim Jong UN.
The Supreme Guard Command Unit, which is also known by other names such as Unit 963, the Escort Bureau, Guard Command, Guard Bureau and the General Guard Bureau
Recruits have all attended special training camps for six months and are trained for a total of two years with no contact between them and family allowed.
Thought to number around 95,000-120,000 at home, there should be no issue in bringing along enough personnel for the trip.
Who knows if we'll see the 12 bodyguards running alongside his car just like when he visited South Korea briefly during the meetings at the DMZ.
5. The Beast
Famous through-out the world, The Beast is the informal name of the presidents car which he uses to travel to and from places outside the white house.
The presidents seat is fitted with a satellite phone with direct lines to both the vice president and the pentagon.
The car features an armour plated fuel tank that is surrounded by expandable foam to prevent any explosions.
The windows feature 5 layers and include poly-carbonate shielding that can withstand armour piercing bullets and only the drivers window can open about 3 inches.
The doors are over 8 inches thick and are as heavy as the cabin doors on a Boeing 747 jet, providing a secure air tight seal to prevent chemical attacks.
The beast has had several incidents in its long service, once in Israel when a driver put the wrong fuel in it and another time when it became stranded on a ramp outside the Dublin Embassy.
4. Singapore Race Track
Located in down-town Singapore, the Marina Bay Street Circuit is where Singapore holds its F1 races during the race season.
The track is 5.065 km long and holds a unique record of having safety car appearance in every race to date... but you may be asking why is it to important to the Trump-Kim summit?
The pit area media centre that sits next to the track, which notably goes past the Fullerton Hotel where North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un is expected to stay during the trip, is expected to host the base for many of the media organisations covering the event.
Barricades, air-conditioning units and other fixtures have been seen outside some ground-floor garages and ore than 3,000 journalists expected to arrive here to cover the summit.
The centre will have several sections, including a media briefing room, a dining room and a media lounge with the building costing more than $40 million to complete and covering a floor area of 23,000 sq meters.
3. Air Force Un
The nickname for the North Korean Air Force One Aircraft that is expected to be used by Kim Jong Un to travel to and from Singapore for the summit, is as far as we know, owned by him.
The plane is rumoured to be able to fly up to 10,000km with a top speed of 900kmh and is thought to have cost around $30 Million dollars to retro-fit.
The Cold War-era Ilyushin-62 is adorned with a red-and-yellow national emblem, ringed with the phrase Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, which is Kim jong Un's main title.
The plane features a bedroom and relaxation area, dining room and on-board shower with a galley in the rear and Kim Jong Un has his own office with plush leather armchair, telephone, silver laptop, router and television.
2. Food
Food at the Capella hotel resort is served up in four speciality dining outlets that specialise in authentic cuisine and seasonally inspired menu's.
The Knolls, is an all-day dining restaurant that serves up a refreshing Mediterranean gourmet experience and this restaurant apparently lets you eat breakfast in the company of the resident peacocks.
There is a Cantonese restaurant, named Cassia, that takes inspiration from the age-old spice routes in Southern and Western China and the seas around Singapore.
Bob's Bar is Reminiscent of the Cuban island bars in the 1950s and 60s and offers exciting cocktails, wines and full-bodied spirits.
Each leader will have a private chef, and customisable menu and its expected that the Afternoon Tea option will also be available with a working lunch expected to take place each day of the summit.
Costs for the food are expected to run into several million dollars when feeding the entourages of both North Korea and The USA
1. US Presidential Convoy
With the inclusion of the beast, which we have already covered, Donald Trump will have access to a large fleet of vehicles that make up the rest of the convoy that travels with him when he is road-bound.
What can only be described as a moving White House on the ground, this motorcade features a contingency response force, communications office, press corps and medical facilities.
No less than 3 beast style vehicles are in the convoy at once and its rare to know exactly which one the president travels in as they all look the same and change places regularly.
USAF heavy-transports such as C-17s are used to move the convoy's across continents and n some occasions, a single C-5 Galaxy is also used.
Presidential Airlift helicopters are also on standby should anything happen to the convoy and these are sometimes used at the last minute when road travel is deemed to dangerous.
There are several positions within the convoy and these include the Route Car & Pilot Car, Sweeper cars, lead car and the Presidential Security Detail Vehicles.
Cars in the convoy often utilise aerials for improvised explosive device jamming equipment and radar monitoring.
Bringing up the rear is a Counter Assault Team vehicle, Intelligence Division Vehicle and Hazardous Materials Mitigation Unit and on every trip an Ambulance specifically for the president.
The convoy has direct lines to Air-Force One and also to a helicopter that flies overhead each time it moves in any country and costs hundreds of thousands each time its used.
